The organization has been running since 1932 and helps veterans by offering support to disabled and handicapped service men. They also have an outreach program designed to reach veterans who live in remote places. Another program is to offer free counseling to the veterans that are in need of it, and to assist them in making claims, and applying for benefits that are in place to help them.

Once you have spoken to your local organization they will arrange a furniture or clothing donation pick up. Generally this will require you to mark up the boxes or items so they can clearly see which goods are for the Purple Heart. Then make sure that all the pieces of furniture are left by the curb or close to the entrance of your home if they are large items. They need to be ready to collect by seven o’clock in the morning the next day.

There is no need for you to stay in for the pickup just have the furniture ready and they will take care of the rest. It is in the organizations interest to make sure the cost of each collection is offset by the amount of money the donated goods will raise. Or you could consider using a website which asks local people if they could make good use of surplus goods.
